Praying to St. Joseph for help in selling your house
Selling your house can be difficult. It takes time for the person who really wants it to show up, and depending on the economy, it could take time for that person with money to show up. People have tried many things to sell a house, and for some religious people, there is a Prayer to St. Joseph, that some say has helped them sell their home.
According to the Bible, Joseph was the husband of Mary. Mary was the mother of Jesus, and she gave birth as a virgin. Joseph could have cancelled the marriage, but he stayed with her and took on the responsibility of raising the Son of God. Joseph was later named a Patron saint of the Catholic Church. Because of his background perhaps, Joseph was chosen as a good saint to pray to when selling a house.
The prayer itself is 500 years old, but there are claims that it is much older. It is not a prayer ordained by the official Catholic Church, but enough Catholics use it to make it a prayer that is known in many circles.
There is also a proper method to do this prayer. First you must get a small statue of Joseph, which is what a group of nuns did in Europe in the 1500s. A small figurine can be used, and there are several companies online that sell them for a few dollars. The statue or figurine must be buried head down, facing the house. When burying the statue say the prayer for the first time, with the promise to retrieve the item once the house is sold. You must also place the statue in your new home once you move.
After the statue is buried, leave it there and say the prayer for nine consecutive days.
The first prayer begins with, “St. Joseph, just and true, with a father’s care you raised the child Jesus, and with a husband’s love, you shared your life with Mary, his mother. I entrust myself to your care and place in your hands this request of mine (say request)…. ”
The prayer is also said to work with hunting for a job. The prayer includes a prayer for protection for the house itself. You may uses it to pray for the safety of your house until you are ready to sell it, if you are not quiet ready to sell.
There is a different verse to be added each day – which are called a novena – that you may add each day you say the original prayer. If you get a kit, as opposed to just the statue, there will be instructions along with a copy of the prayer included.
Keep saying the prayer until the house is sold. Above all, you must have faith, and believe that it will happen. No one knows how this works, but it won’t work at all if you don’t have faith that it will. Many people say it has worked, and if you have had trouble selling your house, it might be worth a try.
